Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels discusses book & how to live your dreams

Jillian Michaels, one of the most adored personal trainers on the reality television show, The Biggest Loser, visited the Today Show this morning. What are Jillian Michaels' key words she lives by? Imagine, Believe and Achieve!

During her visit to Today, Michaels' discussed her new book, Unlimited: How to Build an Exceptional Life, which talks about how to meet your goals and achieve a purpose driven and meaningful life outside of the gym.

Al Roker joked that he believed Michaels would do the interview with Today without yelling or swearing.

Nearly 8 million viewers tune in each week to watch Jillian Michaels work to transform the bodies and lives of contestants on NBC's hit show, The Biggest Loser.

Michaels' may train the contestants very hard physically in the gym, but outside of the gym and behind the scenes, she actually works to build up their inner strength and self confidence.

This is what Michael's says about her new book,

"It's never been about building a better body. It's always been about building a better life. The reality is that unless you have a shift in your heart and in your head, you're not going to be able to change anything, let alone your physique."

When asked how Michaels' feels the other self help books out there are falling short, she replied,

"Well, I think to a certain extent they tell you what to achieve. Like, just love yourself more, stop beating yourself up, but they don't give you a concrete system of tools for how to do that."

Jillian Michaels explains her three steps on how to make these deep inner changes:

  • Imagine is about learning to cultivate your passion. Form an emotional connection to your vision, crystalize your goal because if you don't know where you're going, how are you going to apply the course to get there?
  • Believe is about learning to develop healthy ego strength, self esteem -- people will achieve anything if they think it's worth it and if they think they are capable. So, believe is all about capability and potential.
  • Achieve: Action. You have to bring action to ever intention. It's about educated, specific, deliberate choices that are going to affect powerful change.

Michaels believes,

"I think so many Americans wake up in the morning wondering, 'Is this really all there is?' Feeling unsatisfied or stuck in some capacity. And the reality is, you're meant to have an amazing life. There are people out there that live their dreams. Why not you? It's just a matter of having the skill set."
