Biggest Loser style competition comes to Columbus

For all those fans of The Biggest Loser who feel they would benefit from some friendly competition to lose weight, Commit to Be Fit, Columbus's public health and weight loss initiative is holding the first-ever Community Weight Loss Challenge.  Columbus residents can join together in teams of 2-5 people for a 10-week competition to see who can lose the highest percentage of body weight.

Teams will weigh in at one of the participating YMCA locations between Friday, March 26 and Sunday, March 28.  Ten weeks later, between Friday, June 4 and Sunday, June 6, the teams will weigh in once again to determine their weight loss.  Both weigh-ins must be completed as a team, and they must take place on the same day of the week and at the same YMCA location.

Teams will be judged based on the combined percentage of weight lost.  Each member of the winning team will receive a prize package consisting of a 1-year adult membership to the YMCA of Central Ohio, a $500 gift card to Whole Foods, 3 healthy cooking/nutrition classes, a $50 Frontrunner gift card, and a $250 gift card to the Polaris location of Roll.

Some friends of mine were talking about the best ways to lose weight - they all agreed winning money was a great motivator! This sounds like an excellent opportunity.

Should be fun. But I would never have the guts to attend.
