NBC announced today that the season 15 premiere of “The Biggest Loser” is being pushed back a week to Tuesday, Oct. 15 to make room for a 2-hour episode of “The Voice.” The premiere was originally slated for Tuesday, Oct. 8.
So to get your "Biggest Loser" fix, we talked with executive producer Lisa Hennessy on the upcoming season and how her first season as show runner went in season 14.
Q. What was the reaction to last season with Jillian coming back and the addition of the teens? And how was your first season as executive producer?
A. We had a very positive response from our audience in regards to us tackling the subject of childhood obesity and helping change the lives of Sunny, Lindsay and Biingo -- so much so that this season we will be checking in with each of them and showing their ongoing progress.
The Jillian comeback last season was met with a very positive response. Jillian, Dolvett and Bob are truly the fitness dream team. We are happy that all three are back for this season as well.
To come on as the show runner last season and to be part of such a flagship franchise is an honor and an inspirational experience. There is no better feeling knowing that the job I'm doing is truly helping change the lives of our contestants and their families.
Q. Diet is a huge part of the weight-loss equation. Any chance we’ll be seeing more of what the contestants eat on a daily basis? There seems to be a big mystery of what the contestants eat. Many people think that they’re on some sort of extreme crash diet.
A. In regards to diet, the contestants learn from our nutritionist, Cheryl Forberg, what to eat and how to cook it. It is up to them to prepare their own meals and make their own choices, which helps prepare them for life outside the ranch. This information and take-away tips for the audience can be found mainly on BiggestLoser.com but we do touch upon the nutrition throughout the season.
