And it's back! "The Biggest Loser" premiered on October 15 with celebrity trainers Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince. Season 15 kicked off with a few new twists, and we've got your detailed recap here, from the first day of whining to the first weigh-in.
For the first time, trainers played a role in choosing which would-be "Biggest Losers" would make it to the ranch. They clearly sweated out the decision, making comments like "love her" and "hate him." And when the decisions were made, it was time for the winners to become whiners as they experienced their first day in the gym.
The trainers began by all working with the contestants, checking out to see who responded best to Dolvett, Jillian and Bob. Among the stand-out moments:
- CrossFit king Bob grinned when he saw Olympic weighlifter Holley Mangold in action. "I gotta have her," he muttered under his breath as he watched her lift barbells that weighed more than Jillian.
- Heartbreak story of the night: David. Just six months after his marriage in his early 20s, his wife was diagnosed with cancer. Although she passed away and he is now the father of three daughters (two from his first marriage, one from his second), David's continuing depressions have caused him to gain weight.
- Biggest twist of the night: For the first time, each trainer can "save" one contestant. Jillian made it clear: Don't expect her to run around "saving" anyone. The toughest trainer on the planet apparently has a soft spot, though. When the weigh-in revealed that Craig was not the "Biggest Loser," Jillian stepped in and saved him.
- Best quote of all the contestants: Holley, who says: "I want to inspire people to love who they are, but to know that if they want to change something about themselves, they can." You go, girl!
