Hold onto your remotes: "The Biggest Loser" has rescheduled its premiere to October 15, reported FitSugar on October 8. To keep you going, we've got some fun facts from FitSugar and NBC plus insights from celebrity trainer Dolvett Quince:
- Fun fact: Trainers get "saves" this season! Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper and Dolvett all get to save one contestant who's been eliminated in a new twist.
- Fun fact: Trainers helped choose the contestants for the first time.
- Fun fact: This season features the show's very first celebrity contestants. One is Olympic weightlifter Holley Mangold, and the other is former "American Idol" Ruben Studdard. Learn more about Ruben's decision to join the show by clicking here.
- Fun fact: Dolvett considers the selection of Ruben to be obvious, saying in a recent phone interview: "I think like everyone on every season that we have, we have individuals who submit to say, “Okay. I've struggled with this long enough,” and they realize that Biggest Loser is a place that they can get extreme help. I think it was a decision on Ruben - for Ruben and himself to get healthy."
Ever wondered what the trainers themselves do to stay in such amazing shape? In an interview with Men's Fitness, Dolvett offered up this insight: "I eat clean, but I do like to raise my metabolism. So I spike it by having a cheat day; my favorite cheat food is tequila....and cake."
However, Dolvett usually emphasizes eating clean rather than eating cake.
"When I get up in the morning, I usually work out on an empty stomach and then I'll have breakfast. I eat 5-6 small clean meals a day. By clean, I mean nothing white, nothing processed, lot of grains, lots of fiber, and organic when possible. I keep my meals small because portion control is important for everyone, not just someone who is obese, but for anyone trying to maintain a certain energy level, If you eat a lot you become lethargic, and who wants that?" he asked.
Dolvett has a new book coming out, which is available for pre-order now: "The 3-1-2-1 Diet: Eat and Cheat Your Way to Weight Loss--up to 10 Pounds in 21 Days" (click for details). He's also one of the stars in the fitness DVD: "Biggest Loser: At Home Challenge" (click for details). But what about his own workout?
"To work out I do ten and ten, which alternates 10 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of floor work back and forth. I alternate what I do for floor work to confuse the body; some days I will isolate certain body parts and work on those, and other days I will do combination movements," he explained.
