Jan. 7 was the season premiere of "Biggest Loser" and this season, there are some changes that have shocked viewers beyond anything that could have happened in previous seasons. "Biggest Loser" has brought on three children. All three kids are in their teens. Currently, first lady Michelle Obama has started a campaign called "Lets Move" to help get kids into active lifestyles and the popular weight loss show has joined the ranks to help in the movement.
Fans are on the fence about allowing children onto the "Biggest Loser" because it exploits their issues and makes them vulnerable to bullies that like to target weight challenged individuals. On the other hand, many feel that it is more than time that someone speak up about the subject that has been a taboo topic for so long.
NBC is adamant that the children will not participate in weigh-ins or adhere to the same rigid exercise schedule as the adults. In fact, the children will only be on the ranch for a week to learn some techniques, eating habits, and alternative things that they can be doing to help themselves in living a better lifestyle. After their week on the show, the kids will be sent home to work on the things they've learned throughout the week.
What do you think of having children on the show? Do you think that children could benefit from a "Biggest Loser" children's edition?
