If you don't want to know what happened this week, read no further.
Alexandra went home last week. Ali said that she knew it was hard and if they didn't want anyone else to go home, they needed to lose a combined total of 150 pounds, then everyone will be able to stay another week. If they didn't reach that goal, then two people will go home.
The group decided to accept her challenge and to work together as one team. But Week 2 is a notoriously difficult week, and many times people lose very little or even gain.
Coach Mo volunteered to offer to coach the team, and he suggested Daniel give insights since he was the only one who had been through a Week 2 before. Dan shared that last time during Week 1 he lost 30 pounds and at week two he lost three. This was a huge wake-up call.
When they told Bob and Jillian about it, they were shocked. Bob then kept half the group in the gym for circuit training and Jillian took the other half for a class on calories, working out, and weight loss.
Cut to the Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center where Coach Mo visited his purple teammate Tracey. She cried when she found out that Coach had weighed in and that they both got to stay. She returned to the ranch the next day to effusive greetings from the other contestants.
As the group worked out, some were getting frustrated at Rudy and wished they'd voted him out instead of Alexandra, because he wasn't putting out as much effort as others.
For one challenge they returned to the California Health and Longevity Center and Chef Curtis Stone taught them some kitchen tips. Then Alli appeared to quiz them. If they passed, they'd get a 15 pound advantage at the weigh in. They needed 5 out of 8 to pass, and they ended up winning. So that reduced their needed weight loss to 135 pounds.
The next challenge was also a group challenge. All participants had to walk on balance beams from one raft to another. There were four rafts held together by the balance beams. If one person fell in, it's over. If they make it to the first raft they got 5 pounds, same thing with the second raft, the third raft would get them phone calls from home. The fourth raft would get them 10 more pounds.
Everyone made it to the first raft and thus earned 5 pounds. The second balance beam was narrower. Ditto for the second raft. When they all made it to the third raft they did earn the phone calls home which caused a lot of tears. The final raft was connected by a very tiny balance beam--six inches wide. When the final three people got on the last raft there was jubilation--20 pounds and a phone call home.
The phone calls caused tears and laughter.
Bob and Jillian were concerned even though the group "only" had to lose 115 pounds now. They decided to be rough on everyone but to especially concentrate on Julio during the "last chance workout." Julio started by telling Bob that his legs were dead. Bob said, "Yeah, they're gonna be." The workout was brutal for everyone.
Weight needed--115 pounds:
Pink Team--10
Purple Team--19
Red Team--19
Green Team--21
Brown Team--22
Blue Team--22
Black Team--19 (Putting them 17 pounds more than their goal)
Orange Team--23
So they lost a total of 155 pounds this week, more than ensuring that no one will go home.
Shay said, "The 15 of us just showed Week Two where to shove it."
