Heidi Klum and Seal
Heidi and Seal's split was one of the most shocking of the year. No one expected the supermodel and her musician beau to call it quits after 7 years of marriage -- and 3 children (Heidi also has a daughter from another relationship). This was undoubtedly the biggest split of 2012.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Tom and Katie announced that they were getting divorced after numerous rumors flooded the internet for months. While many were hoping that the couple would announce that they were expecting another baby, their split was somewhat surprising.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
Rob and Kristen ended their "Twilight" love after Kristen was caught cheating on Rob with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders. Although the pair has reconciled, their split was all that was talked about for days. They have earned the #3 spot of this list.
Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli
Facinelli filed for divorce in March after reportedly separating back in January. Citing the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences," Jennie and Peter just couldn't work things out. They have both moved on with their lives but they remain dedicated to raising their 3 young children together.
Will and Amy announced their divorce in September after 9 years of marriage. The comedic actors have two sons together, Archie and Abel, whom they say they are dedicated to raising together.
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis
Depp and Paradis announced their shocking split over the summer. The couple was together for several years but never got married. While their split was unexpected, not much was known about their relationship. They were very private people and they managed to stay that way through the years.
Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman
Danny and Rhea ended their marriage in October. The actors had been married for over a decade but decided to call it quits in 2012. There were reports that Danny was a "womanizer" and that he had cheated on Pearlman a few times over the years. Other reports suggested that the two weren't happy for several years and while their split was surprising to many, their closest family and friends knew it was a long time coming.
Another "Bachelorette" couple bit the dust in 2012. Emily and Jef seemed to want to keep their fairy tale love alive, but just a few short months after finding each other on the popular ABC dating show, the two called it quits. There were several rumors of infidelity and loss of chemistry, and while Emily's fans were quite saddened by the news, no one else was really surprised.
Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy
Reality star and former "Housewife," Bethenny Frankel and her husband, Jason Hoppy, have decided to end their marriage. For months, rumors had been flying about the status of their relationship, and despite all of the denial, Bethenny came clean and announced her split earlier this month. The couple has one daughter together, Bryn.
Adam Levine and Anna Vyalitsyna
"The Voice" coach and his supermodel-girlfriend called it quits back in April. While many believed that the two would be together forever, a break-up far succeeded any marriage announcement. The two dated for only two years but couldn't hang on.
