This article is a transition from Mogollon Monster Bigfoot Research Our Early Years part 5 as we continue to consider Expedition 3.
On Expedition 2, after we met the Ranger, we drove the only access road. My truck was in the lead, when I caught movement from a large set of rocks. I turned to look out the side window and saw my first Bigfoot. It had just come up out of a cave in the rocks and looked directly at me. The look on its face was that of surprise that it had been seen. It immediately dashed for the thick brush. I had slammed on my breaks and was trying to get the truck in reverse, but it was too late. The creature had vanished. We did a search of the area and never spotted anything more. We failed to get a video of the area. We only had still photos.
During Expedition 3 after we had cast the footprint in front of the tent, we returned to the area of the first sighting. Preston Smith helped in a reenactment standing in the entrance of the cave, and we were able to determine the Bigfoot stood a little over eight feet tall. However, we also discovered the cave had multiple entrances. It was very possible the Sasquatch stood up to attract our attention to it while others escaped out of the other two hidden entrances. These findings are recorded in the associated video attached to this article.
After contemplating the situation, Preston decided to climb to the base of a rock outcropping above us. He was sure he was going to find more caves. He was correct. He found several along the base of the outcropping. Each cave was like a small sized apartment room. One of the caves had a rock wall built in the entrance to help conceal the opening and possibly to help keep out the weather. Inside the cave we found two depressions in the floor which looked like sleeping areas for a large animal or two. We also noticed a thick mat to one side of the cave made out of grass and leaves. This material had to be carried inside of the cave to make this bed. In all, there were five caves.
While we were investigating the caves, we heard wood knocking several times and then a vocalization. We felt as if we were intruding on their shelters and the Bigfoot were vocally complaining.
