With an appearance yesterday morning on CNBC, the opening of their ninth store Monday in Freehold, New Jersey, and an update scheduled for this Friday's episode of "Shark Tank", it's a big week for Tom + Chee founders Trew Quackenbush and Corey Ward.
Featuring 19 ways to make grilled cheese (20 if you count building your own), and at least four tomato-based soups on the menu every day, Cincinnati-based Tom + Chee is sure to please the comfort food-craving kid in all of us. They discussed how that city helped them get started yesterday on CNBC.
"It's a great food town. I came from Seattle before I got to Cincinnati, and that's one of the things I found there, everybody is adventurous. People want to try new things and they get behind any new startup in Cincinnati," Trew Quackenbush told CNBC.
The Freehold store is their first restaurant on the east coast, and the grand opening was attended by Tom and Chee's "Shark Tank" investor, Barbara Corcoran. In addition, the eighth store in Lansing, Michigan opened less than a month ago.
The "Shark Tank" update was partially shot in Cincinnati. At the company's Newport on the Levee restaurant, a viewing party with prizes and cake will take place between 7 and 10 PM January 17.
