Big Viking Games updates fans on YoVille buyback progress

It's been less than a month since Zynga announced its plans to close YoVille, one of its oldest social media games. Since that time YoVille players reached out to Big Viking Games, which once owned YoVille, asking the company to save YoVille. Now, according to a status posted on Facebook by Big Viking Games on Feb. 4, they are still working tirelessly to reacquire the doomed game from Zynga.

Big Viking Games says they are doing their “best to buy back YoVille” and to bring it back to being the game players once loved. They reminded players that a business transaction like the one they are attempting with Zynga is very involved, so it can take a while to complete.

On a more positive note, the chief operating officer at Zynga, Clive Downie told Venturebeat.com there was “dialogue with the game’s [YoVille's] creators about a partnership that would see the game continue to be grown and sustained by them.” This statement was Zygna's only statement to date confirming talks with Big Viking Games.

If Big Viking Games isn't successful in convincing Zynga to either sell YoVille or to agree to a partnership as Downie mentioned, YoVille will go offline on March 31, 2014.
