Big third period gives UMass-Lowell game one victory over Maine

Things were going well for the University of Maine Black Bears hockey team on Thursday evening. At least things were going well until the third period started.

UMass-Lowell scored three goals in the first 6:29 of the third period and defeated the Black Bears in game one of their hockey east quarterfinal series at Lowell, Mass.

Scott Wilson scored two goals for UMass-Lowell. Wilson scored the goal that tied the game in the second period. He also scored the go ahead goal early in the third period.

Jake Rutt and Devin Shore scored the goals for the Black Bears.

Game two of the quarterfinal series will be Friday evening at 7 p.m.
