The 2013 Big Ten tournament brackets advance to the quarterfinals Friday (March 15). A surprise in the Big Ten tournament brackets took place Thursday (March 14), though, as Nebraska upset Purdue in first round action. 19 points from Shavon Shields and 16 more from Brandon Ubel helped lead the Cornhuskers to the only upset of the conference tournament so far.
Updated 2013 NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions
In the other first round games, Michigan easily defeated Penn State, Illinois took care of Minnesota, and Iowa knocked off Northwestern. Those were the results expected so far, but now it gets really interesting in the second round match-ups.
In the morning quarterfinal game, No. 1 seed Indiana takes on Illinois. This is an important game for the Hoosiers because the team is trying to show the NCAA selection committee that they deserve one of the top seeds in the NCAA tournament. Later in the day it's Wisconsin vs. Michigan, Ohio State vs. Nebraska, and Michigan State vs. Iowa.
The 2013 Big Ten tournament brackets might seem intriguing on Friday, but the potential match-ups for the conference semifinals on Saturday (March 16) might be some of the best in college basketball this season. As the Big Ten prepares to possibly send seven teams to the NCAA tournament, it will be very interesting to see how everything shakes out.
