The festival announced today that it is now back on, after having been put on hold due to the Federal Government shutdown. The festival, in its 22nd year, is held at the Pacific Valley School which is 60 miles south of Monterey or 40 miles north of Cambria.
The National Forest Campgrounds, Kirk Creek, Plaskett Creek and Ponderosa remain closed, as do the developed day use areas, Sand Dollar, Willow Creek and Mill Creek. Parking adjacent to Sand Dollar will be open. Overnight camping will obviously be problematic.
The festival highlights the best of Big Sur Jade, and features other Jade and art, music, food, lectures and demonstrations and is billed as one of the largest lapidary shows of its type in the world.
