Big Pour Week events are training for craft beer nirvana

Details for the 2011 Big Pour Week have been released and one thing is for certain, there is no lack of great craft beer events to attend.

Here are a few of the highlights to consider while preparing your palate for the craft beer workout at Steel City Big Pour 5.

Tuesday, September 6th
Westwood Golf Club, West Mifflin
Food and pairing with the beers of Full Pint Brewery, including dinner items cooked with Full Pint beers.  Brew Master Jake Kristophel will be on hand to describe the brewing techniques along with Westwood’s Executive Chef Zach Steniner.  Zach will discuss preparation techniques used in the craft beer and food pairings.  Dinner begins at 6:00.  The cost of the dinner is $55 per person.  After dinner, in the bar area there will be a cigar and Full Pint beer sampling.  Call 412-462-9555, ext 2 for more information and reservations.

Wednesday, September 7th
Bocktown Beer and Grill, Robinson
Beer Tasting- Featuring Helltown Brewing- new on the scene in western Pennsylvania.  Meet brewer and founder of Helltown, Shawn Gentry.  The event will feature a raffle for a pair of Steel City Big Pour tickets- $5 per raffle ticket.  All proceeds from the raffle benefit Construction Junction.

Beer Dinner with Mike from Troegs Brewery.  The dinner features 6 beers paired with 6 special plates.  Call 412-363-1947 for more information and reservations.

Thursday, September 8th
Cornerstone Restaurant and Bar, Aspinwall
Beer dinner featuring food prepared by Cornerstone and craft beers from Great Lakes Brewery.  The dinner includes 5 courses with each food course paired with a craft beer from Great Lakes.  Dinner begins at 6:30.  The cost is $50 per person plus tax and gratuity.  For more information and reservations, call 412-408-3258.

Breakfast Beer Brunch - The event features tapping of Founders Breakfast Stout, Kentucky Breakfast Stout, possible Canadian Breakfast Stoiut, Terrapin Wake & Bake Stout, and possibly a few surprises.  Fatheads partners with Point Brugge on this event who makes Belgian waffles and serves them with syrup that comes from the barrels that the Canadian Breakfast Stout is aged in.
