Big news from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom today as the park will now be open year round, starting in 2014. Normally, the park closes after "Holiday in the Park," until reopening one week before Spring Break. But, starting this year, guest can experience everything the park has to offer year round including weekends and Holidays. Don McCoy, park president, said in the press release today, "With the region’s mild temperatures, being open all year means guests have even more opportunity to enjoy Discovery Kingdom’s wildlife and wilder rides." By being open all year, Don further mentioned that this would make "Six Flags Discovery Kingdom as the premier destination for affordable, thrilling entertainment."
Also,opening in 2014, is the all new interactive Tsunami Soaker-an all new fun filled ride that soaks guests as well as innocent bystanders. The ride consists of a water battle in nine different boats, holding six guests each, that spin guests around as they fire water cannons facing outward.
Returning for the 2014 season this the popular Cirque Dreams Splashtastic-the Most Amazing Show Above H2O. In this amazing attraction, guest see their favorite marine mammals as they work alongside an internationally renown company of aerialists and acrobats both in the air and below the water in the Dolphin Harbor Theatre.
Heading into the fall, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is preparing the launch of the biggest and scariest Fright Fest, where their will be "Thrills By Day," and "Frights By Night." Everything is normal during the day, but as night falls, the terrors come out with new haunted attractions, such as the all-new Total Darkness maze, and more zombies than ever before!
