How much money would you pay to have a private webcam session with a famed Dominatrix? One hundred dollars? Five hundred dollars? One thousand? How about $42,000?

That’s the official price paid by one Australian gentleman for a one-hour private session with Kink.com star, Maitresse Madeline as stated in their press release January 7. 2014.

According to the spokesperson for Kink.com (name withheld at his request), the auction, which took place over a two week period was a first of its kind. “We're always looking for ways to bring the viewer into the experience. Filmed and recorded content is still popular, but it's technology of the last century. We want to break down that wall between the viewer and the performer, to really allow them to live out fantasies. So the idea to have an auction, in which a community can participate rather than a person alone behind his or her computer, was a natural fit.”

Imagine making $42K for one hour!

By the third day of the auction, bids hit above $10K. In a Kinky.com interview, Madeline states ““By the time we reach these high end bid amounts we're dealing with another level of customer. These types of customers are willing to pay for the performer they want, when they want and how they want [it].”

The world of BDSM isn’t just some seedy underground group, but is actually more mainstream than one might realize. Your banker, insurance agent, or babysitter may be into the sub/dom lifestyle, and it doesn’t mean they’re deviant. BDSM isn’t always about sex, but about either taking or giving up control to a trusted partner. For people in high stress jobs, it can be a relief from all the decision making much like yoga, Tai Chi, and exercise is for others. The key word here is “trust”. And the keyword requires a safe word.

One can only wonder what level of a corporate position held by someone in which they are willing to pay $42K for one hour with a domme of their choosing; even if only by webcam. Maybe instead of paying out those “golden parachute” retirement packages, corporations could begin to offer monthly Dom/Domme webcam sessions? File that under employer health benefits.

Technology makes almost all things possible such as being anywhere in the world at a given moment. If people can conduct global board meetings, why not world-wide BDSM sessions?

It’s a new market being tapped into here. Kink’s spokesperson says that after the success of this first auction, they will certainly do it again. “But it isn't just about auctions, it's about making the experience of adult entertainment more interactive and participatory, rather than passive. ” (Kink recommends Maitresse Madeline’s interview, The Art of the $42K Webcam Show)

As the internet brought adult entertainment into the home, webcam sessions will broaden the scope of BDSM allowing the curious an opportunity to try something they’ve always craved without having to leave their bedrooms.

As for the auction winner, Madeline has been in contact, but they have not yet set a time for their ground-breaking date.
