Attention chocoholics and lovers of chocolate inspired goodies - it's almost that time again with the Annual Big Island Chocolate festival gala slated for May 3rd at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawaii. The gala will Feature a slew of celebrities appearing at the festival gala including: celebrity "Mr. Chocolate" chef Jacque Torres, Chef Donald Wressell of Guittard chocolate, Chef Vincent Bourdin of Valrhona Chocolate and cacao consultant Ed Seguine. The gala event will be a delicious feast featuring Big Island grown cacao and chocolate products made on the island.
The Saturday gala begins from 6-10pm and features a chocolate inspired feast of savory to sweet concoctions including 40 pounds of chocolate to be utilized into a chocolate sculpture being created during the festivities. Other favorite chocolate inspirations include: a mole bar staffed by West Hawaii culinary students, a towering chocolate fountain with fresh fruits and treats for dipping along with delicious chocolate stations provided by various restaurants and vendors.
The three day event sponsored by the Kona Cacao Association will include a Kona chocolate farm tour, chocolate demonstrations and tastings, a chocolate competition and finally the main gala event on Saturday at the Fairmont Orchid.
