The 2013 Big East tournament schedule is set, but the top seed has yet to be decided. The Big East tournament schedule begins in less than a week now, with Georgetown, Louisville, and Marquette all still holding a chance at clinching the No. 1 seed. On Wednesday (March 6), Georgetown got upset again, dropping the team to 13-4 in conference play and giving the other two schools some much needed daylight.
NCAA Tournament Seeding Predictions
One game in the Big East tournament bracket is already set, as No. 11 seeded Rutgers will take on No. 14 DePaul in one of the first round games. The two teams really struggled this season and now have to play in what is basically considered one of the play-in games to the tournament. In the other first round game, it will be Seton Hall vs. South Florida, with both teams posted a 3-14 conference record this season. They will be the No. 11 and No. 12 seeded schools.
Every other school gets at least one bye, with the top four schools getting byes into the third round (quarterfinals). The first three teams will be Georgetown, Louisville, and Marquette, but the fourth team could be Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, or Syracuse depending on how the final games of the week play out. Getting that No. 4 seed could be crucial, because no team wants to play an extra game within the conference tournament.
There are certainly some good games coming up on Saturday (March 9) to decide the seeding and they include Syracuse at Georgetown, Notre Dame at Louisville, and Marquette at St. John's. It will be that night that the seeding and Big East tournament brackets are all laid out before the teams head off to Madison Square Garden for a chance at the conference title.
