2013 Big East tournament results include Syracuse pulling off a quarterfinal upset against Pittsburgh. It was the first real Big East tournament upset this season and it played out Thursday morning (March 14) in New York. Now, though, Syracuse advances to face a really tough Georgetown team in the conference semifinals.

The 62-59 final score shows just how close this game was, but Pittsburgh really had no answer for James Southerland. He scored 20 points, including hitting on 6-of-6 shots from three-point range. As a team, Syracuse made 12-of-19 three-point attempts and it presented a weapon that might be tough for any of the other Big East schools to stop as well.
In the other game of this side of the bracket, Georgetown easily beat Cincinnati 62-43 to advance to the semifinal match-up. It will be very interesting to see Syracuse vs. Georgetown again this season, especially when many experts thought that it would be one of these two schools winning the tournament and heading straight into the NCAA tournament as the automatic qualifier.
More 2013 Big East tournament results will come in later on Thursday as Villanova plays Louisville and Notre Dame plays Marquette in the two other quarterfinal games.
