It's the final days of NCAA Championship Week live, and the Big East Tournament 2013 bracket schedule brings the finals of the conference tournament on Saturday night. Playing for their final time for the championship will be Syracuse and Louisville with the game televised and live streaming in certain areas of the nation.
According to ESPN.com on March 16, Syracuse has appeared in 14 tournament finals during their tenure in the conference, winning six of them. Meanwhile, Louisville claimed their first conference championship back in 2009 with a 70-66 victory over the Orange. They won another just last year against Cincinnati and now look for the repeat. The Cardinals are currently on a nine-game win streak as well.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino said of today's game and nostalgia:
"It's very exciting to be in another final game, especially the last year of existence in the Big East. So we're very excited."
The Cardinals enter with a record of 28-5 overall and 14-4 in the Big East, scoring 73.4 points a game while allowing 57.9 points. The Orange have a record of 26-8 overall and 11-7 in the Big East, as they allow 59.6 points a game, and average 71.6 points a game themselves. Russ Smith leads the scoring for Louisville with 18.3 points a game, while C.J. Fair is leading Syracuse with 14.2 a game. Michael Carter-Williams of the Orange and Peyton Siva of the Cardinals could also provide major boosts for their respective teams in today's contest.
