Today is a big day for the San Francisco Ballet. At the homes of some of the most illustrious figures the city has to offer, preparations for their red carpet entrance have been going on since this morning. The time has come for the Ballet’s Opening Night Gala “Moving the Compass” at City Hall and the War Memorial House. The name reflects the history of the world’s oldest ballet company, evoking visions of pioneers changing the face of our existence. The compass, like the core of cultural diversity and experiences within the San Francisco Ballet, is a guiding resource on a path of constant innovation. Take a look back with me over the course of January as I captured moments from the Ballet Opening Night Gala Patron and Grand Benefactor receptions. To honor the cultural theme "Moving the Compass" the special occasions took place at the Netherlands and German Consulate General.
It has been a true pleasure getting to work closely with Cathy Goodman, Julie Dolan, Carol Benz, Kathy Huber and Opening Night Gala Chair Deborah Taylor. Other highlights included catching up with last year’s Gala Chair, Marie Hurabiell Trader, Cinderella Ball Co-Chairs Suzy Kellems Dominik and Stephanie Ejabat. It was great to see Dominik who recently debuted on national television, as Elite Model Look's first-ever "Couture and Culture Correspondent". Principal Dancers Sarah van Patten, Damian Smith, Yuan Yuan Tan and Maria Kochetkova also graced the crowds.
Check out the Hot Shots section to see the other moments from both nights and who else attended.
