Summer may be the time most of us kick back, but for others it's time to kick it into gear! Big City Bikerafts takes groups through the best hiking and biking trails and through the water too. A sport that doesn't snugly fit into any set category, bikerafting combines a pleasant, yet sporty bike ride a few miles long, with a peaceful yet invigorating rafting stint back to the starting point of the adventure.
The Intro to Bikerafting package is only $20 and includes the rental of the fully-equipped raft and backpack. The only items not included are the bike itself and the bike helmet. Any bike can be used, however, a bike with quick release wheels will make the journey easier.
The route through White Rock Lake is less than five miles long. Then, the journey will pause as the best spot to launch into the water is found and rafts are inflated. The last leg is refreshing, paddling back in the water under the sun and quiet.
One of the greatest features of this outdoor hybrid sport is that it is portable and can be practiced anywhere there is both surf and turf. Co-founders Will Saunders and Evan Smith, are also willing to rent out the bikerafts on their own, even to those adventurers outside of DFW. Day rentals of rafts are $60, for out-of-towners, plus the shipping price.
Big City Bikerafts proves that there's always one more new thing to try in Dallas.
