I have exciting news to share with you! The Oregon Department of Education has awarded the Gresham-Barlow School District a School Improvement Grant (SIG) for East Gresham Elementary School. The grant is for $1.8 million over three years. It will be used to put into place strategies aimed at increasing student achievement. The goal will be to improve classroom instruction and eliminate barriers that keep students from being successful.
The Oregon Department of Education has approved what is called the Turnaround Model. This will result in a change in leadership as well as some staff members.
A new principal has been selected for East Gresham Elementary School. The school district has selected Kimberly Miles, who currently serves as a school principal in Medford, Oregon.
There are many other exciting changes planned. This is a great opportunity for East Gresham Elementary School and I am sure that you have many questions. We will be scheduling a parent meeting in the near future to answer your questions and share more information about the grant. Watch for an announcement soon!
