On the next episode of “Big Brother” season 16, airing July 6, 2014, the two Head of Households must each nominate two house guests for eviction. Then these pairs must go head to head in the Battle of the Block competition to determine which cast mates are safe from eviction, which are still in jeopardy, and who will be the reigning HOH for the week.
The two HOHs and the Battle of the Block are new additions to this season of “Big Brother” and add another level of strategizing and game play. In this scenario, the HOH who nominated the pair of house guests who are victorious in the Battle of the Block loses his or her title and the second HOH, whose nominees lost during the challenge continues to hold the title and remain safe for the week.
On the last episode of “Big Brother,” Amber and Devin both became HOHs, therefore, one of them will be dethroned tonight. Thursday's show was broadcast live and initially, host Julie Chen announced that Cody, not Devin had won HOH for the men in a competition that resulted in one male and one female being chosen. However, after production staff reviewed footage of the challenge, they determined Cody had made a move that disqualified him from the contest, which gave the HOH title to the next fastest competitor, Devin.
To determine who will choose their eviction nominees first, Amber and Devin will pick numbers from two eggs. Each egg contains either a 1 or a 2, so the HOH that draws the number 1 will pick two cast mates to sit on the nomination block first, leaving the second HOH to choose from the remaining house guests.
