Most articles of this nature will post a spoiler alert at the beginning, but then again, people wouldn't look for updates ahead of the airing of the show, so let's skip that and move right into it.
LA- Big Brother 13 contestant Brendon Villegas, recently evicted and subsequently returned to the Big Brother house, will be facing eviction again as early as Thursday, Aug. 16.
Villegas was evicted on Day 34, but returned to the house the following week after a competition with volunteer pawn Lawon Exum. While Alpha Alliance members Jeff, Jordan, and Rachel ( Brendon'd fiance) initially celebrated, the HOH competition ended with Daniele, head of the Enemy Alliance, an uncontested winner. She then nominated Shelly and Adam, two floaters, for eviction.
Understanding these two nominations requires scrutiny of the strategic implications of this game. Historically, all tyrants must have minions to support their tyranny. Subsequently, these minions shelter and protect the tyrant as long as there is no clearly succcesful opportunity to allow their overthrow. In the game of Big Brother, floaters are a crucial element to any strategic alliance, as they are easily swayed to vote the way the stronger players wish. By nominating two floaters, Daniele has sent a message to the floaters in the house that they are not safe from eviction, they are not unnoticed, and that there are other strong players in the house to fear aside from the Alpha Alliance members.
Adam winning the veto competition apparently in the nick of time also requires furthur scrutiny. Floaters don't like to win competitions, as it degrades their floating image ( winners aren't floaters, floaters aren't winners). Typically floaters are put on the block as pawns against a targeted strong player. Since there were two floaters up, Adam knew that it was unlikely he would be saved by a veto, as each alliance member would sacrifice a floater to ensure their own safety. Adam therefore could only assure his own safety in the game by winning.
Daniele's decision to put Brendon up was likely her design the entire time. By not putting him up originally, she kept him from winning the veto and upsetting the nominations. Since he was evicted once, he will likely be evicted again, as the floaters see an opportunity to shift the power of controlling votes from the Alpha Alliance to the Enemy Alliance. Each time power shifts from side to side it means the loss of an alliance member. Eventually the floaters outnumber the strong players, and then assume they have control of the game. At that point, historically, the remaining opposite alliance members join together and wipe out the now useless floaters.
Regardless of the outcome of this game, if Brendon get's evicted again on Thursday Rachel may have an emotional breakdown that hasn't been seen since the days of Little House on the Prairie.
