Fair warning, this column will be full of spoilers, since what's actually going on in the Big Brother 11 house is far advanced from what CBS is running on television. If you'd like the information spoiler-free, check out this week's column.
The Sunday night show was a very frustrating one, and did absolutely nothing for Big Brother 11 fans who've been following the show in real time.
Last Thursday night's show was a whirlwind eviction ceremony, which gave us the first-ever use of the "Coup D'etat" power, an overturning of the nominees, and the eviction of Jessie.
To put it mildly, since then, things got really intense in a grease-fire, train-wreck, clown-autopsy sort of way.
Chima went nuts, refused to play the game or wear a microphone, and was evicted by CBS from the Big Brother 11 house, then Michele's reign as Head of Household only lasted two days. Jordan won the next Head of Household competition, and CBS has canceled the scheduled double-eviction ceremony for next Thursday night.
All of these pieces of information are available on the internet and in print, as the show takes place in real time and is easily followed through the show's internet feeds and Showtime's Big Brother After Dark.
However, CBS is pretending none of these things have happened yet, as Sunday's show stopped on Michele making her nominations.
With the biggest controversy in the history of the American version of the show in their holster, CBS is electing to play it slow, and milk the controversy for as many shows worth of ratings as possible.
With Chima's ejection occurring Saturday, maybe CBS wanted the full Monday-Tuesday cycle to promote Chima's meltdown into a big bag of crazy. Perhaps they're just stretching this out to include Jordan's ascension to HoH and her eventual nominations, since this week basically involves a restart. Maybe CBS has just decided to wait and let the controversy build in hopes of pushing the ratings.
Whatever the reason, the Sunday show was very frustrating for people who follow the show through the always-shilled-but-rather-expensive internet feeds, or through Showtime's Big Brother After Dark. If CBS wants us to really follow this show and spend the extra money for the feeds or the cable channel, they needed to throw us a bone.
CBS has given us what I like to refer to as the "Terence and Philip moment," the extremely disappointing sidestep of an intended plotline payoff.
To explain, South Park once gave us a two-part episode that promised a revelation of the identity of Cartman's mother. Instead, Trey Parker and Matt Stone gave us an April Fool's Day episode that was a full-length Terence and Phillip cartoon, and made us wait another week for the payoff.
So for example, when Lost ends with a big revelation, shocking moment, or cliffhanger, and I tune into the next show only to find it focuses entirely on some completely unrelated character and doesn't even mention it, I know I've had a T&P Moment. If I'm watching The Sopranos, and we go from a shooting that leaves a character at the brink of death, and the next episode is an obvious dream sequence that makes no sense and adds nothing to the story, I've had a T&P Moment.
And when I tune in to Big Brother 11 and we're behind on the HoH, the nominess, and someone who's already been thrown out of the house, I feel like Parker and Stone have pranked me again.
CBS, you've left us hanging.

I don't care how they play it out -- Chima is gone and that is great news to me!!! Mean spirited woman that needed to go home.
actually this Chima incident wasn't the most dramatic ejection based on what we've heard, the Justin Sebik knife to Krista's neck on BB2 was.
will chima go to the jury house???
will chima still go to the jury house??
no chima will not go to the jury house nor will she appear on the finale or have anything to do with CBS / BB ever again
chima is a poor loser and cant take it. so she turns into a poor loser...sad!
It will be interesting to see exactly why Chima left, whether voluntarily, or not. Eviction for a contract violation, while understandable, should be only one possible reason for banishment. House guests should be held to the same societal standards that apply in the general workplace. No cast member should be held contractually hostage to the kind of behavior that some house guests have exhibited. (Think Evil Dickhead) Otherwise, why not hand out ball bats and let the bludgeoning begin?
Sorry, but no. Regardless of how things play out wrt ratings and such, the week is playing out as the week normally does. Everything is on schedule. It was a huge story (the biggest BB's ever had) but it's still business as usual for the tv show no matter how much that might annoy you. HOH noms are Sunday. POV is Tuesday. Eviction is Thursday. POV will be replaced by Jordan's HOH, which still leaves everything on schedule. Feed viewers know who is nominated well before that episode. Feedviewers know who has won POV well before *that* episode. Imo, keeping things on schedule and not allowing Chima to further disrupt things is the way to go. She doesn't run the show.
Chima got evicted by BB are you F***ing serious oh i was so wanting to see her get evicted by the votes :(
Chima's family will (at last) be able to see her at her worst and realize that she needs intensive counseling NOW! She has probably been a allowed to be a bratty diva all her life, but that major trauma over ten years ago has left her a very damaged person.
I dont like Chima-Natali and Jesse,I dont know why chima-natalie-lidya act like stupid donkey girls cried when jesse out from BB,Lidya-chima dont u ll remember when jesse tried to kick ur ass from BB manytimes..dank!!three of u acted very stupid..I like jeff & Jordan...I hope they both win...caiyoooo
It is time for people to see Chima for who she realy is and get her some councling.
