Actress Mayim Bialik stars in "The Big Bang Theory" as a quirky scientist and actually earned her own PhD in neuroscience from UCLA. But as she told Wendy Williams during her Feb. 25 appearance on Wendy's talk show, Mayim also has become known for her defense of attachment parenting and view that vegan cooking can benefit the entire family.

Mayim told Wendy that she feels it's healthiest to continue breastfeeding toddlers and young children for longer than the norm. In her case, she stopped breastfeeding her son when he was three years old.

In addition to extending breastfeeding, Mayim believes in the benefits of attachment parenting techniques such diaper-free potty training and allowing babies and young children to sleep in the same bed. She's also authored a book on the subject: "Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way" (click for details).

Wendy asked Mayim about making the shift from allowing her children to sleep with her to sleeping in their own beds. Mayim said she feels that the shift has gone well, and that "bed-sharing" is one of the keys to raising healthy, happy children.

A celebrity spokesperson for the Holistic Moms Network, a national non-profit organization dedicating to supporting holistic and green parenting and living, Mayim also talked with Wendy about her new plant-based cookbook, which she feels is appropriate for the entire family.

Being a vegan is the "most earth-loving green Jewish thing I do," says Mayim. She eats no animal products, including no dairy and no eggs, and also does not wear leather or wool or any product derived from an animal’s body, even if the animal was not killed in the process of its production.

Her new cookbook is designed to spread the world about the benefits of plant-based diets for the entire family: "Mayim's Vegan Table: More than 100 Great-Tasting and Healthy Recipes from My Family to Yours" (click for details).
