The episode begins with Penny’s bad day at work when she gets fired from her acting gig from Serial Apeist” after she got into an argument with the director.
“I need to start making some smart decisions,” Penny said after being fired from that gig.
Leonard, understandably was suspicious about Penny’s sudden interest in marrying him. Leonard told Penny that he saw himself as a healthy bran muffin instead of an exciting, diabetes-inducing Pop-Tart. He insisted on knowing what she needed from him.
Penny responded, "You, you stupid Pop-Tart!"
Leonard then pulled out the engagement ring he has carried in his wallet for years.

Within seconds of the Big Bang episode’s showing on the Eastern time zone, “Penny and Leonard” was a big trending term on Twitter. Fans for the most part were thrilled for the couple.

But the wedding could be a problem for Leonard’s roommate, Sheldon, who is set in his ways and has long been resistant to any changes in his life. Some fans are suggesting that Leonard and Penny’s engagement could prompt a Sheldon-Amy engagement.

Now there are reports Sheldon may go AWOL for the season finale.
"He gets the hell out of there and I have no idea where he's going or what he's planning," Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon, told TVLine. "I won't know until I come back and read the first episode [of season eight]."
"All the [personal and professional] changes that are taking place finally start to come home to roost for him as problems," the actor explained of Sheldon.
