The last few days have seen two big announcements made concerning Des Moines concerts. Late Friday, the Des Moines Music Coalition announced the lineup for the 2013 Gross Domestic Product. Earlier today, the first two acts for the 2013 Nitefall on the River summer concert series were announced.
Around 10 a.m. this morning, the first two concert dates and acts were announced by the organizers of Nitefall on the River. On June 5, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will play an all ages Nitefall show. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert will be $25. On July 3, Dark Star Orchestra will play Nitefall. Tickets for the 6 p.m. all ages event will be $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets for both shows will go on sale on Friday, March 22 at 10 a.m. through Ticketfly. All Nitefall on the River concerts are held at the Simon Estes Amphitheater (75 East Locust) in Des Moines.
On Friday, the Des Moines Music Coalition announced the bands that will play this year's Gross Domestic Product on Saturday, April 13. This year's GDP will be spread out along Fourth Street in Downtown Des Moines, with pay stages at Vaudeville Mews and the 4th Street Theatre and free stages on the Vaudeville Mews patio, at the Des Moines Social Club's temporary home in the Kirkwood Building, and at the Lift. Advanced passes may be purchased online for $15 through Tikly. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., and the complete schedule will be announced at a later date. The event's lineup includes 19 Iowa bands headlined by the reunited House of Large Sizes (video below). Here is the list of bands that will be performing:
