Bieber meltdown: His break-up with Selena Gomez caused all this nonsense? (Video)

Things haven't been going well of late for teen crooner Justin Bieber. And now it would appear that there are those who believe his tantrums, tardiness, violent outbursts, and odd behaviorisms could all be due to a girl. In fact, some believe Bieber is still pining over his lost relationship with fellow pop rocker Selena Gomez.

Various outlets, including Cambio (March 11), have speculated that Bieber has been in a downwardly spiraling tailspin since the break-up, which was supposedly precipitated by numerous arguments, Bieber's alleged philandering with a Victoria Secret's model while and after his appearance at the November fashion show, and the "Boyfriend" singer's insistence on hanging out with people like Lil Twist, who was photographed along with Bieber in December allegedly smoking something illegal.

Since the reported "official" break-up of Gomez and Bieber in December from their on-again-off-again two-year relationship, things haven't been going all that well for the "Baby" singer, except for perhaps a string of sell-out concerts and a good showing while hosting "Saturday Night Live" in February. He took to Twitter to tell his followers he had the "worst birthday" on March 1 when he left a circus-themed birthday bash early because they wouldn't let his pal, Jayden Smith, into the show (due to his age). But things quickly got worse.

He started a four-night-stand at London's O2 Arena on Monday, March 4 and arrived at the first show two hours late, much to the angered dismay of plenty of fans (he was booed). Although he apologized and said he was delayed by "technical difficulties," the Daily Mail reported that he threw a tantrum, argued with family and management, and told them he'd perform when he felt like it. During his third show on Thursday evening, the young pop star became short of breath and had to take on oxygen back stage before finishing the show. (He would later get checked out at a hospital.) Some fans were unamused, reported the Daily Star, claiming Bieber "faked" the collapsed to get publicity and sympathy for the backlash he'd received for being late the first show.

He went on a long Twitter rant about "fake stories"...

The next day, he cursed and screamed at a paparazzo he bumped into on the way to his car outside his London hotel room. The photographer yelled that Bieber had assaulted him and called the pop star a "little f***ing moron," to which said moron lunged and took a swing at the paparazzo but was held back by a bodyguard. Screaming f-bomb-laden profanity, he threatened to beat up the photographer.

Later that same day he canceled an interview with ITV, says the Mirror.

Then it was announced that he canceled an upcoming show in Portugal, according to Zap2It.

In short, Justin Bieber had a rough week in London. Going back to his nineteenth birthday (March 1), he's had a rough couple of weeks. Well, okay, 2013 has not been his year.

Hollywood Life spoke with Dr. Gilda Carle of "The 30-Second Therapist" on NBC's "Today Show" about Bieber's strange and counterproductive behavior. She said, "When a couple is together, there is an interdependence on one another that results in each of them taking care of the other. While men in our culture don’t like to admit it, the value of having a deep and caring love calms them. Without Selena, it seems that Justin is spiraling out of control … he seems to be without direction and grounding.”

Some think it might be just the beginning. And Cooper Lawrence, relationship expert and radio host, told Hollywood Life that there is added pressure on Bieber due to having to play out what is normally a private matter -- his relationship with Selena -- in public. Some don't handle it well. "It’s no different then the breakdown Britney Spears had a few years ago," he said.

And Selena? In another report Hollywood Life spoke with a Selena insider who said that the 20-year-old is weathering the Justin news well, laughing at most of it. Although Bieber calls, the friend says the "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" singer is over him.

"Justin is crazy and she doesn’t want to be his mom anymore," the source dished. "She feels so free and loves hanging out with her girlfriends. He’s weird and she doesn’t find his behavior hot or anything."

But could the recent spate of bad press, strange behaviors, schedule problems, and childish outbursts simply be a matter of bottlenecking coincidence. Or is there really reason to believe that Justin Bieber actually is headed for a meltdown, possibly even one like that experienced by Britney Spears in 2008? Or could it be that Bieber is simply acting out because he's young, has plenty of money, has tons of time-consuming commitments and very little control over his life?
