Bicycle contingents pedaled among the array of 2010 Seattle Pride Parade entrants. With the Bicycle Alliance banner stretched between two lead bicyclists, the Bicycle Alliance of Washington proudly exhibited its support for LGBTQ people. Behind the leading cyclists, seven colorfully-clad bicyclists pedaled the bright-red balloon-decorated "conference bike."
A wide variety of bicyclists joined in the parade. There were the naked bicyclists reminiscent of Fremont's Solstice Parade. One rider pedaled a bike so very little that his knees were nearly up to his nose. There was one contraption constructed using multiple bicycles ridden by several riders. A rider on a modified high-wheeler led the Seattle Men's and Women's Choruses. Although this bike proved to be very difficult to ride uphill, especially from a dead stop.

The parade, an annual event celebrating all things gay, proceeded down 4th Avenue from James through downtown ending at the Seattle Center for Pride Fest. This year's theme "Over the Rainbow" spawned a variety of Wizard of Oz motifs. Though bicycles in of themselves don't conjure up images of Dorothy or the Tin Man, you might remember that Miss Gulch rode a bicycle. The parade draws participation from organizations, companies, elected officials and individuals advocating GLBTQ equality. So bearing flags, streamers or balloons (or baring all), bicyclists proclaimed LGBTQ Pride.
