You would have to admit, there is something very unusual about seeing 6,000 dead pigs floating down a river in China. Is God trying to tell us something? Is he speaking to us in a very unusual way? Could this be a sign of the end?
By Wednesday, March 13th, over 6,000 dead pigs were pulled from Shanghai River in China. Chinese citizens are concerned as 22% of the Chinese City's drinking water comes from this river. It is believed that local farmers threw the pigs into the river after they died from an unknown disease. Many people are now wondering if the water itself could be contaminated, causing the pigs to die after drinking the water. Chinese officials are working hard to find the people responsible for throwing the dead pigs into the river, as well as testing for disease. But their main concern is making sure the water is disinfected. Water samples show signs of Porcine Circovirus in the river. There are big concerns as swine related viruses have been known to transfer to humans in the past. This is potentially a highly dangerous situation for many of the people who rely on the water of this river. So are the dead pigs and the contaminated river a Biblical sign? A sign of the end? Here's what the Bible has to say about it.
In the days of Moses, God warned the people not to eat any unclean thing. The pig was considered unclean to eat. It wasn't even considered good enough for a temple sacrifice. In fact the Bible says that the demons chose to enter the swine and go into the river and drown rather than face Jesus.
The disease itself is known as a plague in the Bible. God has sent a plague many times as a punishment to the people for not being in obedience to him. Plagues were also sent to the Pharoh in Egypt for refusing to let his captive people go.
Exodus 9:3- "behold the hand of the Lord will be on your cattle in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the oxen, and on the sheep- a very severe pestilence."
So you can see here that many times plagues are sent by the Lord, as a sign or warning for what is about to come.
In this case, God is speaking out very loudly, that time is growing short. Jesus is coming soon and the tribulation to test all the peoples of the world is about to begin. These pigs floating down the river in China is just a warning and a small snapshot of the things that are about to take place upon the earth. Those who ignore the warnings will have to go through these times of troubles. But those who repent and believe that Jesus is their Lord and Savior will be saved from the hour of trouble, such a horrific time which never was seen before on the face of the earth. The warnings will soon cease, so get your heart ready for Jesus today!
