According to a Jan. 13 tweet from Houston MMA fighter Bebe Laced, her scheduled fight against fast-rising knockout artist Bianca Rodriguez has officially been scrapped.

Laced, 24, apparently suffered a severe ankle injury that required medical attention. The injury was so bad that it has prevented her from continuing to train for the fight with Rodriguez.

"Unfortunately my doctor has confirmed I have a torn ligament in my ankle, so I have to pull out of my fight on Feb. 22," Laced posted on her official Instagram page. "But I will keep you updated with my progress and when I will fight next. Thank you for all your support. Love you!"

Rodriguez, 19, took the news like a classy, seasoned professional, as she wished Laced a speedy recovery.

"Just got horrible news," Rodriguez posted on her official Facebook page. "My opponent Bebe Laced has dropped from the card, everyone who knows me knows for a fact that I was really pumped about this fight and was confident in bringing home a win. Can't explain how much this sucks right now. And to top it off I am still sick.

"This doesn't mean I won't continue to push just as hard in training. I know how much everyone was looking forward to seeing this fight happen. I appreciate all the support, good luck and love I've received from all of you and may my next opponent be ready to band because mercy will not be given."

Rodriguez and Laced were scheduled to duke it out on a Feb. 22 card in Austin, Texas, but it wasn't meant to be.

Rodriguez says the promotion is actively searching for a replacement opponent, but that it's "not looking good" as far as finding someone to replace Laced.
