At least half of the legendary tennis player's quote might be applicable to Johnriel Casimero after he captured the Interim IBF light flyweight title at the Club Once Unidos in Mar del Plata, Argentina where he beat Argentinian Luis Lazarte via 10th round TKO Friday night.
That half is the one about not being able to recognize whether he won or lost after the Argentinian crowd swamped and mugged Casimero together with his team in the ring before the referee could even raise his hands in victory.
In a disturbing display of uncivilized behavior, frenzied fans showed just how macho they were when they unscupulously punched, kicked and beat down the heavily outnumbered Filipino contingent like animals. Members of Lazarte's corner were also seen throwing fists and attacking Casimero and his cornermen. Instead of celebrating their victory, Team Casimero found themselves fending for their lives.

This incident should not go unnoticed, nor unpunished. If security in Argentina is incapable of protecting visitors from their barbaric fans, they should be prevented from hosting international boxing matches. It's not the first time Argentina has been involved in an incident like this, and controversial judging favoring their fighters has also become a common occurence.
Argentinian promoter Osvaldo Rivera has a lot of explaining to do.
Casimero went to Argentina to pursue his dreams, earn an honest payday, and risk his life in the ring, not outside it.
Fortunately, Team Casimero is out of harm's way and are safely in their hotel with police escorts according to Philboxing.com.
Julaton vs. Marcos in Argentina
3-time World Champ Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton is scheduled to defend her WBO women's super bantamweight belt against undefeated Yesica Marcos on March 16. Team Julaton had invited me to join them in Argentina to cover the potentially explosive match-up. After watching this video, however, I'm starting to think that an Argentina trip would only mean two things for Team Julaton: Get robbed or mugged. Not my idea of a vacation.
