"Beyond Obsession" synopsis/plot
Follows the story of 15-year-old Traci Dicarlo, a child pianist who lives under the shadow of her abusive and domineering mother. Once Traci becomes a teenager and finds love with a local boy, she is determined to get rid of her mother at all costs, even if that includes murder.
The true story that inspired "Beyond Obsession" happened in 1986 after a Connecticut woman vanished from her home and was later found murdered. The woman's daughter, an accomplished violinist, was accused of plotting the murder of her mother along with her boyfriend. According to court records, Joyce Aparo, 46, was strangled with a pair of nylon stockings and discarded in a brook under a bridge.
Karin Aparo, 15, and her boyfriend Dennis Aparo, 18, were arrested for murder. Karin Aparo was later acquitted but Dennis Aparo was sentenced to 34 years. He was released from prison in 2013.
