It's been three years since her last album, I Am...Sasha Fierce was released, but Beyonce is currently filming a new video for her latest venture. Seen yesterday in Los Angeles and the Mohave Desert shooting the video for her fourth solo album, stills from her shoot have been released. Since her last album, pop music has crowned several new female favorites, who also happen to be faves among the fashion elite. Despite owning two fashion labels named House of Dereon and Dereon, Beyonce never quite owned a distinctive style or a much-heralded look such as those made signature by Rihanna, Katy Perry, or even Lady Gaga. Now, it looks like Beyonce is hoping to reclaim her throne as the queen of the charts and she literally is putting the "Queen" theme to work.
Spotted wearing Givenchy Haute Couture in the video for the first single of her new album, "Girls", Ms. Knowles, sports high-waisted fringe shorts with a gold belt and black booties. From the stills for the video shoot, the premise seems to lean towards the smash from Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Rihanna, "Run This Town". The video sports a military desert-warrior theme with Queen Beyonce waving a flag with heralding...a large "B".
The soon-to-be 30 year old, also wears a gray bra, gold jewelry, and a gold headress with a red plume coming out the top while covering her blonder-than-usual hair.
While we're not 100% on the styling and fashion used in the video, we don't blame Beyonce for not wearing her own label...as it has a horribleness that seems unattainable by many other celebrity labels. Even Jennifer Lopez's J-Lo line showcased clothing that could be worn by someone outside of a high school in Houston. But while not wearing Dereon, the stylist for Beyonce's video chose high-end Givenchy Couture that was also the opposite of complimentary to Beyonce's body type. We are sure the song "Girls" will be on the top of the charts upon release as Beyonce is one of the world's premiere pop starts. Her new song is described as a 'stomping club banger', which samples a well-known dance track. Sony Music Australia executive Denis Handlin stated his happiness with Beyonce's growth as an artist, 'It was just amazing. She came in and played us six tracks from the album."
Also in the video still for "Girls", Beyonce's dancers sport, harem pants, military-inspired jackets, police caps, and the required bad girl dancer near the artist wearing a garter belt with a beat down car as the backdrop...all styles via any named Michael or Janet Jackson video.
Sony's Handlin goes on to say, "She wants to do a big tour off the back of this record...These songs, the best description I can give is groundbreaking. She’s gone to another level." In other words, the music will be groundbreaking...but the video styling will not.
