Celebrating her 32nd birthday on September 4, Beyonce has restored her pre-baby body. She acquired fame as the only celebrity with enough self-confidence to inform a concern crowd precisely how she lost her pregnancy pounds. "I had to lose 60 pounds. They had me on a treadmill. I ate lettuce!" she announced boldly.
In a recent interview with Self magazine, Beyonce explained her somewhat reverse philosophy: "I can't eat what I want, and I can't not go to the gym." Translation: She runs for cardio and does strength-training as well, noting, "I'll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] five-pound weights [for] the whole song and just try to burn out."
Ever wonder how busy superstars like Beyonce push themselves on days when they're tired? "The truth is, it's a lot of sacrifice," she admitted to Self. "It's more about your mental strength than physical strength. You have to push yourself. It doesn't matter what trainer you have. And it doesn't matter what program you're on. You have to be healthy and make the right choices."
And (a hint to "Dancing with the Stars") Beyonce loves to dance for fun and fitness. "For me, dancing is what keeps me active," she declared in an interview with Shape. Her trainer Marco Borges, in an interview with Heat World, noted “On top of our sessions, she does quite a bit of dance rehearsal on her own,” says Marco. “That helps. Any movement is going to burn calories.”
In addition to the cardio, Marco has his client use kettle bells and do boxing. He emphasizes the importance of enjoying those workouts. “To be consistent you need to enjoy yourself,” Marco says. It's all in line with Beyonce's attitude toward life: "Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you."
