...Or does she?
Lori and Julia covered this on their radio show earlier this week. The story behind this is that Beyonce was accused of lip-syncing the anthem at the Inauguration on January 21. According to Rebecca Nelson of Time magazine, a rep for the US Marine Band told CNN and other channels that she "had pretended to sing along with a prerecorded track."
On Thursday at a press event for the 'Bowl Beyonce bravely took "podium" and belted out the anthem in front of a stunned and possibly confused members of the press. She ended with a bold "any questions?"
Lori and Julia applauded her and claimed she proved everyone wrong, all the so-called "haters." Did she? Ultimately, what she did was walk into an indoor facility with limited audience and no orchestra and proceed to affectionately sing the anthem and impress those present with the power of surprise, as well. Many have applauded her, including the Time article writer, and some have critiqued her. Mostly, comments online and feedback reflected on the Lori and Julia show seemed to back up Beyonce. Lori pointed out that many other stars have lip-synced along their careers, including Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, and Ashley Simpson who'd accidentally put on the wrong track pretend-singing on SNL.
All things considered, one must give Beyonce credit for making this decision for a world-wide event with potentially a billion people watching around the world. Her nerves and lack of rehearsal with the orchestra, as she herself admitted, came into play. Will her fans hold this against her or not?
Beyonce promises not to lip-sync at the Superbowl, although a track of her prerecorded voice will be available for emergency situations. On the show they talked about the performers not getting paid for Superbowl performances, just profiting from the spiked album sales from the increased exposure - 100 million people on average watch the 'Bowl, ranging between 93 and 110 million.
Now for a bit of useless gossip, also on L & J show - Lindsay Lohan and mom were refused by two hotels in LA, Shutters and Loews. Shutters had apparently black-listed Lindsay for destroying a room with her then-boyfriend, Riley Giles, back in '07 according to the Daily Mail. Apparently, this has kept LiLo (the press has coined it, what you gonna do) and mom from getting a room at Shutters, and Loews refused them for reasons unknown. They seemed to end up renting a house in Beverly Hills. Lindsay was in LA after getting scared of missing court dates for an earlier car accident. Lindsay was offered 9 months of rehab as plea bargain; she refused it and her lawyer advised her not to agree to anything over 60 days.
So... that's that. Is Lindsay the target of certain injustice? Seems she's always on verge of going to jail. What happened to her movie career? Even a sit-com would do her good right about now. C'mon, Lindsay, fans have faith in ya.
