When it comes to post-baby bodies, Beyonce has rocked the world with her ripped abs, whittled waistline and perfect physique. So how did Queen B achieve that slimline success? Her trainer, Marco Borges, told all the secrets to Access Hollywood on Dec. 13.
Beyonce's current diet consists of a plant-based vegan plan announced by Jay Z on his Web site. In the announcement, Jay Z credited Marco.
"This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan (Marco) challenged me to embrace plant-based breakfast every day," revealed Jay Z.
Marco, who told Access Hollywood that he also helped Beyonce restore her pre-baby body, is also the founder of the 22 Days Nutrition Program, which forms the foundation of Beyonce's and Jay Z's new diet.
"While I don’t preach, I do share with friends my nutrition, because I’m always asked how do I have such high energy and always feel great,” Marco explained to Access Hollywood.
Both Jay Z and Beyonce believe in the multi-faceted benefits of Marco's diet, which includes more energy, weight loss and reduced risk of diseases such as cancer.
"If there was a drug that could prevent or decrease heart disease, how much do you think that drug would be worth? I would say trillions of dollars instantly. Well, that drug exists. It’s called a plant-based nutrition," asserted Marco.
Marco noted to Life and Style magazine that Beyonce initially began with a vegan meal a day in addition to the fitness plan that he created for her.
He recommends "at least "one vegan meal a day because this typically gets people to eat more greens than they normally would." And Beyonce's healthy snacks also are plant-based.
"If you have to snack, don't sacrifice nutrition," says Marco.
Beyonce snacks on edamame, a green apple or cucumbers sprinkled with vinegar, cayenne pepper and lemon.
Her fitness program includes:
- Running-spring intervals for quick cardio sessions
- Running stairs
- Biceps curls with 5-pound weight
