Beyoncé revealed she was “terrified” moments before the release of her new album this week. At a screening for her new music videos on Saturday, the 32-year-old admitted she was nervous about the release, according to Fox 411 on Dec. 22.

"I was terrified. I was so scared. I already envisioned like the worst things that could happen," Beyoncé said. "I was really nervous because this was a huge risk."

The singer's album topped the Billboard charts this week after its release. "Beyoncé" sold 617,000 units in the U.S. in a week; and has sold more than 1 million albums worldwide, according to the report.

Beyoncé responded to fans via Instagram and talked about opening up on the new album.

"I'm very private and I'm very respectful, and I think it just took me no longer being someone's child — once I became a mother, I felt like I could tear those fourth walls and I just felt like it was time," she said. "I completely feel liberated."

The singer added that she became bored with the music industry following her last album and the new album is a reflection of "experimentation and growth."

"Beyoncé" features 14 songs, 17 videos and was the first release under Beyoncé’s own production company, Parkwood Entertainment.

"I felt like I wanted follow in the footsteps of Madonna and be a powerhouse and have my own empire," she said to cheers from the crowd. "And (to) show other women when you get to this point in your career, you don't have to go sign with someone else and share your money and your success, you can do it yourself."
