iTunes held a huge surprise for subscribers on Thursday night. Singer Beyonce pulled off a stealth release of a huge album and the world is going crazy. This monster release has 14 songs and 17 music videos and all of them are new. According to a Dec. 13 E News online article, Demi Lovato was one of the first celebrities to freak out. The X-Factor judge let go with this Twitter post:
"I'm literally FUH-REAKING OUT over this new #BEYONCE... The music vids?!!?! I CANT HANDLE THIS MUCH FIERENESS.... #NOJOKE #DYING,"
A Dec. 13 Billboard online article said that the album sold 80,000 copies in the first few hours. The speculation is that the December 18 chart release will have Beyonce in the number one position. She is already number 1 on the iTunes charts, in Australia and in 29 other countries.
Some of the tweets are off the charts. Elle magazine tweeted "We're drunk with love with Beyonce's new album." BET's 106 & Park yelled "Bow Down!"
The fabulous power of Beyonce allowed her to pull off a stealth release that went to the top of the charts with no promotion or publicity except for Twitter and other social networks.
In fact, the production and release was so stealthy that only a dozen Sony Records personnel even knew of the project, according to Billboard. This is proof of the power of social networking. One very hot spark, like Beyonce, can set off a wildfire that spreads throughout the world in one night.
AU Kfan is one tweep who said it all: "Beyonce makes loving Beyonce fun"
