AP reports that his better half Beyonce is releasing her album straight to iTunes 14 songs and 17 videos . Beyonce calls it a “Visual album”. The CD /DVD version of will be released just in time for the holidays.
The feedback is very strong as Bill Werde states "Our early numbers are showing that this is likely heading toward a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart with only three days of the tracking week."
As the times change lines between the consumer and artist get closer due to social media and the digital downloads. With Beyonce putting her music out going directly to the fans it allows a more organic reception of the music to take place. There are no prejudgements due to reviews and critics.
In a statement Beyonce says "I didn't want to release my music the way I've done it, I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans."
There are collaborations with Frank Ocean, Drake, and Jay-Z. Co- writers of other songs are Justin Timberlake, Miguel, Pharell, Sia, Ryan Tedder.
