Beyonce has definitely stirred up speculation on her music performance for President Obama’s second inauguration. Beyonce sang “The Star Spangled Banner” but there is a lot of speculation flying around that she lip-synced it according to CBS News on Jan. 22.
A source told CBS News that Beyonce did perform the National Anthem live but she also pre-recorded a track of the song to sing over. According to the source this is a very common practice among singers. The music from the Marine band was also a recording.
The Marine Band did release a statement stating that there was no opportunity for Beyonce to rehearse with them so it was decided a live performance with Beyonce would not be a good idea.
Beyonce’s publicist has made no comment and it doesn’t look like they are rushing to set the record straight. Beyonce would not be the first singer to lip-sync. There have been many before her and she probably will not be the last.
