Now, for the faux pas of the presidential inauguration. Does anyone else find it odd and slightly tacky that Jay-Z and Beyoncé were treated like royalty at the inauguration? And what about Beyoncé lip-syncing the national anthem? American Idol doll Kelly Clarkson (who was photo bombed by former president Bill Clinton) didn't have to fake it to make it. Perhaps Queen B got her nerves in a bunch. There's something plastic about lip syncing that busts my bubble.
Apparently Aretha Franklin gave Queen B a little leeway, saying that the temperature outside was just not good singing weather. But did Franklin lip sync her turn to sing the National Anthem? Not a chance, nor did it cross her mind she said.
Then we have Lupe Fiasco who was escorted off stage after making anti-Obama comments. According to WashingtonPost.com, Rapper Lupe Fiasco was escorted off stage by security during a performance at StartUp RockOn’s inauguration celebration Sunday night. Even at an event celebrating President Obama’s second term, Lupe didn’t hesitate to criticize the president, announcing that he did not vote for him. Thirty minutes into the anti-war song, Lupe was approached by guards and taken off stage.
Mind you, this could all be a publicity stunt. What better way to make headlines than diss the president during inauguration? Just saying.
