Beyonce is turning out to be more than simply a sexy and talented entertainer, she is also turning out to be a fantastic philanthropist in the making. These are hard economic times for a lot of people, and therefore when Beyonce recently began passing out $50 gift certificates at a Walmart she brought a lot of Christmas joy to a lot of people. On Friday Beyonce surprised fans at Walmart in Tewksbury, Massachusetts by passing out $37,500 worth of gift cards, reports US Weekly on Dec. 20, 2013.
Beyonce was continuing to celebrate the release of her self-titled fifth studio album after a Brooklyn show and album release party on Thursday. Than she took off for Massachusetts and appeared just like any other shopper when she showed up at the Tewksbury Walmart store as she walked the aisles and and even bought a copy of "Beyonce". She than announced that everyone in the store at the time would receive a $50 gift card and she handed out a total of 750 gift cards.
Beyonce was giving a strong message to Target and Amazon that she did not appreciate their boycott of her "XO" album with her Walmart gift card giveway, writes The Christian Science Monitor. Her new album became an overnight best seller when it was released at Apple's iTunes store with a price of $15.99. Over a million copies have sold already. However, in apparent retaliation for her one-week exclusive deal with Apple, Target and Amazon announced they were not selling the physical album of "XO". Beyonce hit back by appearing as one of Santa's best helpers this year with a Christmas celebration at Walmart a lot of happy shoppers will remember.
