Last night the most talked about Super Bowl half-time performer, Beyonce, came through with an amazing performance. Everyone was talking about whether she would lip-synch, would there be a Destiny’s Child reunion and what would she wear. As always she rose to the occasion, giving a top of the line performance. The reunion of the award winning girl group, Destiny’s Child was just the icing on the cake.
Many of Beyonce’s costumes for her concerts were designed by her mother, Tina Knowles. She is known for her unique designs and she did a wonderful job designing the costumes for Beyonce’s last concert at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City. "My mother and I are so close and connected on so many levels, both personally and professionally. Having her design and supervise the wardrobe direction assures me that I will be able to express my love of music and fashion as well as my creative vision for the overall production," said Beyonce in an interview in 2012.
The world renowned songstress decided to go another route for this performance. In 2001, Beyonce had her first movie played during the Super Bowl and the following yearher first Pepsi commercial was played. It has been 11 years and she was allowed the opportunity to headline the half-time show.
Mrs. Carter took the stage in a black leather ensemble designed by Rubin Singer. He has been working on the design since December. It included a black leather bodysuit, a removable motorcycle jacket, flounce skirt and delicate Chantilly lace detail. Singer’s websites states “The Rubin Singer brand, since its inception in 2007, has been founded on the principles of edgy and sophisticated design that shaped the designer’s aesthetic approach and creative vision from a young age.” It was great that Beyonce awarded this talented designer this moment as opposed to wearing a household name like Givenchy as previous half-time performers have done. She and her fashion forward sister, Solange Knowles, have worn his designs before but this was definitely ‘the moment’. Not to mention he designed Michelle Williams costume along with pieces for the 120 backup dancers. Rubin Singer is one to look out for and critics can’t wait for his fall 2013 collection titled “Valkyrie’s Dominion”. While Kelly Rowland wore a get-up designed by Emilio Pucci, they all looked Flawless as they sung in three part harmony.
After the big game, there was a huge announcement. Beyonce will be going on a world tour entitled, The Mrs. Carter Show Word Tour. Check http://www.beyonce.com/tour-dates for more details.
