Beyonce may well be adored around the world, but in Britain this weekend the superstar singer was booed and jeered at as she took the stage at the annual V Festival held in Chelmsford, England. Unfortunately, the weather was dreary as rain poured down on the festivities and, with Mrs. Carter twenty minutes late to her own gig, the whole audience got wet.
According to a Aug. 19 report from The Week, Bey's delay not only caused a damper but she also may have caused her concert on Saturday to be canned for viewing on England's Channel 4. The station was all set to broadcast the performance but at the 11th hour was pulled.
The reason is unclear.
One theory by Lisa Verrico, writing for The Times, is that Beyonce did not allow the broadcast to take place because this tycoon thought she might suffer in her DVD sales if that happened.
Verrico scribed, "In that sense, B at V could be accused of short-changing fans."
On the other hand, fans who survived the start to the show were probably just relieved that the star decided to sing in Chelmsford despite all the snags.
And so, after Beyonce was booed and after she was jeered at because she was late to the V Festival stage in Britain, Jay-Z's wife went on with the show even though she was thoroughly drenched in the process.
