Superstars Beyonce and Jay-Z, contemporary music’s power couple, began their joint tour on Wednesday night. The married couple kicked off their summer tour entitled “On the Run” in Miami, according to People Magazine.
The schedule states that the pair will be performing together for about three months, through September. The opening show included more than 40 songs from the couple’s individual catalogues of songs. The performers graced their first audience of the tour at Sun Life Stadium in the Sunshine State.
Previously, it was reported that the power couple of song have been working non-stop in preparation for their three-month tour, which will hit many cities throughout the globe.
According to MSVN-TV News in Miami, fans arrived for the first show from near and far. The excited crowd was graced with the couple on stage at 9:30 p.m. The attendees that were interviewed by the television station gave extremely positive reviews.
The performance was entrenched with hip-hop and pop, as one would expect from their past musical releases. USA Today described the concert as a "tantalizing spectacle with triumphant vocals, palpable sensuality and booty-shaking anthems." The tour embraces a black-and-white color scheme which was described as "classy". Reportedly, fans were subjected to heavy rains as they waited for hours for the doors to open to the venue. Inside the stadium, fans found wet seats and aisles, though the rain had stopped for the most part. Fans did not seem to let the weather dampen the mood.
Beyonce, who has had a lengthy career in music, is still promoting her latest recording. Her self-titled album collection was released at the end of last year as a surprise recording release via social media. Jay-Z released a project last year entitled Magna Carta Holy Grail. The album received critical acclaim and sold very well. Last year, Jay toured with Justin Timberlake.
