Beyonce and Jay-Z threw a party to remember for the first birthday of their daughter, Blue Ivy. Details are now emerging on the over-the-top elaborate bash the singer and rapper put together, for the tiny tot. Picture a diamond-encrusted Barbie doll. The cost of the party topped $200,000, reports Radar Online, on Sunday, Jan. 13.
The Barbie reportedly cost $80,000, with another $30,000 spent on gifts and favors for the guests, including princess costumes and playhouses, and some $90,000 for a huge array of perfect pink and white roses. The cake and the rest of the trimmings were in the same cost ballpark. The theme was princess, and Beyonce and Jay-Z wanted to make sure their little princess lacked for nothing, not to mention the dazzling doll.
Of course, one-year-olds tend to chew on their toys, and they like cakes they can dig into with both little fists. But first-time parents rarely think of such drab details. It’s perfectly normal for moms and dads throwing their first birthday party for a child to go a bit overboard, out of pride and love, and this is just what happened. Since Beyonce and Jay-Z are the highest-paid celebrity couple in the world, they can go as overboard as they want.
The party was weeks in the planning, and it included both adults and children as guests. And if things got boring, they could always take off for the Barclay Center, where Jay-Z maintains a permanent nursery set-up for Blue Ivy in one of the luxury boxes over the basketball court.
